The research focuses on elucidating molecular, epigenetic, and neural circuit mechanisms underlying emotional and cognitive disorders. Key areas include identifying epigenetic modifications associated with behavioral changes in mood disorders, uncovering neural circuit and molecular pathways involved in treatment-resistant depression, and examining neural network mechanisms that regulate motivational behaviors such as reward processing, addiction, sexual behavior, and decision-making. Using an integrative approach combining behavioral neuroscience, molecular pharmacology, and systems and computational neuroscience, the work aims to clarify how chronic stress alters brain function and how resilience or anhedonia emerges, ultimately contributing to the development of novel therapeutic strategies for neuropsychiatric diseases.

Ain Shams University | Egypt

An academic pharmacology professional with extensive experience in full-time teaching at a leading medical faculty, delivering clinical pharmacology education across diverse medical programs using lectures, small-group discussions, and practical sessions. Teaching practice is grounded in outcome-based education and modern, technology-enhanced, student-centered strategies, including problem-based, case-based, and team-based learning, aimed at improving clinical reasoning and engagement. Research experience includes supervision of postgraduate (Master’s and Medical Doctorate) and undergraduate research projects, alongside postdoctoral involvement in a neuropsychopharmacology research group. Research interests center on neuroscience and behavioral pharmacology, with a strong emphasis on translating clinically observed phenomena into testable experimental hypotheses through close clinician–scientist collaboration. Academic contributions have been recognized through institutional international publication awards. Active participation in scientific communities is demonstrated through involvement in national conferences, regular departmental scientific meetings, a major university medical congress, and prestigious international forums such as the ASPET Annual Meeting and the Academic Drug Discovery Colloquium, reflecting a sustained commitment to advancing pharmacological education and translational research.
